What is a Physiatrist?

A Physiatrist, or Rehabilitative Physician, is a medical doctor who is a nerve, muscle and bone expert and who treats patients with injuries, illnesses and ailments that affect how they move.

The goal of a Physiatrist is to help patients decrease their level of pain and rehabilitate their injury, illness or ailment without surgical intervention. Physiatrists treat a wide array of problems including sore shoulders, low back pain, neck pain, arthritis, nerve injuries, repetitive stress injuries and many other acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Our Physiatry/PM&R Services

Dr. Hernan Jimenez specializes in the treatment of acute and chronic conditions including low back pain, neck pain, nerve pain and injury, repetitive stress injury, musculoskeletal conditions, cervical and lumbar radiculopathy and arthritis. He is particularly interested in the conservative care of cervical and lumbar acute and chronic spine management.

On the initial visit with his patients, Dr. Jimenez performs a comprehensive clinical examination and medical history review in order to properly assess the patient’s injury, illness or condition. He offers each patient a complete explanation of his findings and recommends the proper treatment plan based upon the completed examination. His focus is always on rehabilitating each patient to his/her maximum level of medical improvement.
