Central Carolina Orthopaedic Associates, PLLC is dedicated to providing comprehensive musculoskeletal care to the Lee County community and its catchment area. We are comprised of two Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeons, a Board Certified Doctor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and two Certified Physician Assistants who are committed to the highest standards of quality and cost-efficient orthopaedic medical care. We are actively recruiting well-trained specialists to join our practice so that we may better serve you.

Our providers work together as a team and regularly consult with one another.

We are located at 1139 Carthage Street, Suite 101 in the Medical Arts Building at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford (click here for a map to our office). One of our practitioners is always available by telephone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A physician, physician assistant, triage nurse or medical assistant can return calls in a timely manner. We attend to emergencies promptly. Patients with urgent problems can be seen on a same-day basis.

Professional and Accredited

The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, the only orthopaedic board recognized by the American Council on Medical Specialties has certified our physicians. We are graduates of accredited medical schools and residencies in general orthopaedic surgery. We are credentialed for privileges at Central Carolina Hospital.

We have strong associations with the primary care physicians and surgical specialists in our community and believe that health care providers in our region hold us in high esteem.

We are members of The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, The North Carolina Orthopaedic Association, The North Carolina Medical Society, American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), and many other organizations that focus on continuing medical education. We maintain close affiliations and frequently consult with faculty of our medical schools and orthopaedic training programs.

Insurance and Worker’s Compensation

Central Carolina Orthopaedic Associates, PLLC accepts all major insurances, including Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicare. Please call our office if you have any specific insurance inquiry. You may also email your questions to: insurance@centralcarolinaortho.com. We have full-time insurance billing specialists on staff dedicated to working with our patients and their insurers to ensure a pleasant experience.

If you have any questions regarding our Worker’s Compensation Program, please call our office and ask to be directed to our worker’s compensation specialist. We will work closely with the injured patient, case manager, insurance carrier, and employer. Case Managers are welcome to attend appointments.

Expanded Waiting Room Coming Soon!

We Have Listened to Your Comments

We always value our patient's feedback, and a frequent complaint has been that our waiting room is too small and crowded. Recently we purchased more "right-sized" waiting room chairs to replace the old chairs and to provide additional seating. Now we are pleased to announce that we are expanding our space to create a more comfortable environment for you, our valued patients.

This summer we will be moving walls and expanding the size of our waiting room. While we will utilize some of this larger space to accommodate even more seating, we will be sure to also increase the amount of open space and the size of the aisles.

We Have a New Orthopaedic Surgeon on Staff

We are pleased to announce the addition of a new Orthopaedic Surgeon to the staff of CCOA.

Dr. Ted Pitts joined our staff on Monday, July 12. His years of experience will be a great benefit to our patients as well as the rest of our staff. Adding this new provider will also help us to meet the growing needs of our community and increase our ability to provide more appointment times and faster service!
